Cool down with this hackable Ice Tube Clock Kit
Until we get our hands on an actual time machine, this clock will have to suffice. The Ice Tube Clock Kit from Adafruit contains everything you need to build an awesome retro VFD tube clock. Similar to a Nixie tube, the retro Soviet-era display tubes included in these kits were manufactured during the Cold War but never used. These rare tubes are increasingly hard to find, making supplies of this in-demand kit very low. Round trip to 1980 sold separately. Note: this clock comes unassembled and requires a fair amount of soldering to complete. Learn More

Here’s what you need to know about buying a stylus: it’s all about the weight. It’s a tricky process and the honest truth is that most of them are so unnaturally light that you are probably better off using your finger. There’s this story (urban legend, perhaps) of a subway vending machine in Japan that would sell out of snack sausages because everyone started buying them to use on their tablets. Surely there has to be a better way. The Cosmonaut is different. It was designed specifically around creating a stylus that was weighted perfectly and easy to hold. Less pen, more marker. They raised 3x their Kickstarter goal and people who have one really love it. If you are looking for a last minute gift for someone who has just recently become tablet-obsessed, the packaging alone makes the Cosmonaut an excellent choice. We tested it on every conceivable tablet and it glides, for serious. The Cosmonaut is a hometown favorite here at Grand St. - designed in Brooklyn and manufactured in America.

TRON-ify your bike with Monkey Lights
Growing up, we sometimes used our bikes as imaginative proxies for a number of things: spacecraft, fighter jets, motorcycles, and unicorns, to name a few. Built by bikers, for bikers, the Monkey Light is a slender, low-profile panel of LED lights that attaches to the spokes of your bike wheel. Turn it on and start pedaling to transform your spinning wheel into an eye-catching, head-turning blaze of patterns and colors. Perfect for staying visible on a casual ride after dark, and even better for outmaneuvering the Master Control Program with Flynn. Learn More

Fix, retrofit, or hack everyday things with Sugru self-setting rubber packs
MacGyver was the godfather of doing much with little. A little bird told us Sugru self-setting rubber was his best kept secret, and now it can be yours, too. Sugru is a putty-like substance that comes in little packets and can be formed, shaped, or sculpted by hand. It bonds to nearly every surface and sets in place overnight to help you fix, modify, or improve just about anything, from that frayed iPhone cord to customized grips on your ski poles. Keep a few packets of Sugru in your toolkit, workshop, or kitchen drawer and help all the King’s men put Humpty together again. Learn More
